nice to meet you.
I’m Tori; a dog lover, avid reader, obsessive latte drinker, craft beer snob, street art enthusiast, retired competitive soccer player, kickboxer, and…
i’m not a designer.
Well, I am, but… I’ve always considered myself a visual communicator. Design is storytelling—it’s a means of communicating ideas and connecting with strangers. Good design does not happen by accident or on its own. Without strong strategy and compelling copy, you just have a pretty picture. But when all three areas combine, you end up with an impactful story that relates to an audience, builds a relationship, and creates communities.
This is why I started designing.
I learned how to design before I had ever even heard the term “graphic design”; in a dingy high school yearbook room, on a 2000’s era PC, googling “how to color splash in photoshop”. I wasn’t trying to create a studio masterpiece or win awards, I was simply trying to make the yearbook something that students would cherish and hold onto as a handheld memory; a way to remember this community that they were apart of.
This is why I keep designing.
Fast forward a few years, and I fell in love with advertising in the back row of a (much less dingy) college classroom. I was enchanted by it; the strategy, the communication, the problem-solving—all of it, together. Soon after, I found a way to merge my old and new loves: visual communication.
Officially, I’m a designer. Unofficially, I’m a visual storyteller.
With 10+ years of design experience—from agency to in-house to editorial—I’ve learned one thing (well, I’ve learned many things, but one stands out): the best marketing is crafted with equal parts strategy, copy, and design. Whether it’s a brand, a campaign, or a single-night event. The combination tells a story; a beautiful story.
